A pressure group deflated the tyres of several SUVs in Ghent on Thursday night, according to a report by VTM Nieuws. Ghent police confirmed that eight complaints were filed, but about 40 SUVs were reportedly targeted around the Coupure.
The group responsible for the action is believed to be the ‘Tyre Extinguishers,’ who have targeted similar cars in Brussels in the past.
The vandals have been targeting heavy vehicles on the grounds that they cause more damage in the event of an accident and because their fuel consumption is often higher, even on journeys made on ordinary roads.
Police said the facts will be investigated, although it is often difficult to identify the perpetrators.
