Consumers can now request the second bonus for electricity and gas if they have not yet received it, according to the federal Economic Affairs department.
The vast majority of consumers automatically received this flat rate from their energy suppliers: 4,847,404 bonuses have already been paid out, amounting to around €1.303 billion.
The way in which the bonuses are granted depends on the energy supplier. Some give monthly discounts on instalment or final bills, others deduct the amount in one go or pay it into the customer’s account number.

People who have not yet received this second bonus can claim it at any time between Monday 24 April and 31 July via the online application or by sending in the application form by post or email.
This bonus is granted to all households that have a current electricity and/or gas contract as at 31 December 2022 and households benefiting from a collective gas installation (with a single contract) on that same date, for domestic use.
The amount of the second bonus is €61 per month for an electricity contract and €135 for gas. It covers the months of January, February and March.
A first bonus amounting to €270 had already been granted for the months of November and December to cope with rising energy prices.
