People who test positive for Covid-19 will no longer be required to self-isolate for seven days, Belgium's Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The Ministry added that the abolition of the mandatory isolation period is a consequence of the "favourable evolution of the pandemic".
It also noted that positive Covid-19 cases will henceforth be treated by the Belgian medical authorities in a similar manner to the seasonal flu.

Belgium has registered 4,790,564 positive Covid-19 infections since the pandemic began in 2020. 34,188 are reported to have died shortly after infection.
On Wednesday, almost 300,000 Belgian citizens were estimated to be currently infected with Covid-19.
