A 37-year-old Dutch tourist, who was seriously injured when a petanque ball exploded in Stavelot, Wallonia, died on Thursday from his injuries, Eindhovens Dagblad reported on Friday, based on a statement from his family.
The man, who was from Eindhoven, had been seriously injured on Saturday evening when a brazier exploded in the garden of a residence in Stavelot that was rented by a group of about a dozen persons from the Netherlands, police said.
Police reported that the explosion had apparently occurred when a petanque ball was thrown into the flames, which caused the brazier, a type of barbeque pit, to explode.
Several people had been injured, from projectiles or from burns, in the accident.
