Brussels local police apprehended four irresponsible drivers on roads last weekend. The four vehicles were impounded and the drivers had their driving licences removed for 15 days.

"On Saturday evening, police officers noticed two vehicles that were driving very fast and seemed to be having a speed contest in the vicinity of the Boulevard Royal Park," police sources said. "In the process, they zigzagged between the other cars, which were driving at a normal speed."

Police report that another vehicle drove through a red light; the driver only held a provisional driving licence, meaning that they are not allowed to drive unaccompanied or after 22:00.

A few hours later on Saturday night, police chased a driver with a passenger that was travelling at high speed and performing dangerous manoeuvres. The vehicle was stopped by police that were monitoring the Heysel area. The driver was also found to possess only a provisional driving licence and should not have been driving at the time or with a passenger.

A short time later, another driver was intercepted on the Heysel Plateau by police forces on duty in the area: "This fourth driver was driving at high speed and almost caused a head-on collision during a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre."
