Federal Judicial Police on Friday seized heavy firearms and a grenade in Putte, Antwerp Province, as part of an investigation into a suspected criminal organisation, Antwerp public prosecutors said.
Magazines, ammunition and working clothes from the port of Antwerp were also discovered.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the suspected organisation was involved in large-scale cocaine trafficking, weapons offences and illegal deprivation of liberty.
The investigation, under the direction of a judge in Mechelen, has led to the arrest of a 52-year-old woman from Putte, a search of whose home led to the discovery.
The woman will appear in court in Mechelen on Tuesday.
