With just over a month to go, Gent Jazz festival has released its final line-up for 2023 with more than 60 artists taking to the stage between 5-15 July.
Several big names had already been announced for the festival's 21st edition, such as Gregory Porter, Ludovico Einaudi, ZAZ, Snarky Puppy and Marcus Miller.
The festival has now, however, posted the full list of acts set to perform this July at the classic Bijloke site.
The line-up includes acts from both Belgium and further afield. On 13 July, Ukrainian harpist Alina Bzhezhinska will be performing with her HipHarpCollective.
Bringing both an experimental nature and 90s influences to her music, the festival has described her as being "entirely in the present" and "one of the most important voices in the contemporary jazz scene."
There will also be performances from the Belgian band Stavroz – closers of the Main Stage – and Elias and Dries Laheye on the Garden Stage. Stavroz are an 'organic house' quartet – part electronic, part acoustic – and are sure to get the crowds dancing.
Elias, on the other hand, "meanders between spherical, bright melodies and subdued rhythms" and bassist Dries Laheye will provide "spherical compositions with room for live improvisation and interpretation," according to the festival website.
Portico Quartet, described by The Guardian as "a successful blend of Radiohead, The Cinematic Orchestra and Efterklang" will also be taking to the Main Stage. Californian artist Salami Rose Joe Louis is set to close the night on 13 July, providing "a strange but fantastic musical experience on the border of jazz, rock, hip-hop and contemporary pop."
In March of this year, the festival also announced that renowned Ludovico Einaudi would perform for an extra day on 10 July due to popular demand.
