Saturday has proven to be a scorcher, with high temperatures recorded across the country. In Brussels, temperatures reached 30 degrees.
In the morning, cumuliform clouds quickly appeared in the Ardennes, spreading north-westwards during the day. In the afternoon, there will therefore be alternating periods of sunshine and cumulus clouds, but at the coast the skies will remain fairly clear.
Temperatures will range from 25 or 26 degrees in the High Fens to 30 or 31 degrees elsewhere, announces the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM).
Sunday will also be sunny and warm. Cumuliform clouds will form in places, but structured thundery showers are likely to remain over France. The weather will be slightly wetter in the south-west, so heat thunderstorms may occur locally during the day, particularly in the south-west of the country. Elsewhere, the weather will remain generally dry.
Temperatures will reach between 25 degrees in the High Fens, 29 or 30 degrees elsewhere (including by the sea) and a little higher in the Kempen.
Next week, the IRM expects very sunny conditions to persist with highs around 30 degrees on Monday, followed by gradually slightly cooler weather.
