A Flemish motorist has died after plunging with his vehicle into the Schipdonk Canal in Nevele, a village in East Flanders. A coroner has been appointed to determine the cause of death, the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office said on Saturday.
The events occurred at around midnight on Friday night. The man hit a post and then a guard rail before falling into the Canal. It was not until an hour later that the accident was noticed. By the time emergency services arrived, the 38-year-old victim had already died.
