One person died and three others were seriously injured on Sunday morning in a road accident in the city of Damme, near Bruges, the West Flanders public prosecutor's office said. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which slammed into a light pole.
The accident occurred at around 06:00 on Natiënlaan. According to the initial findings of the traffic expert dispatched to the scene, the vehicle suddenly changed direction for an as yet unknown reason. One occupant did not survive the impact and the other three were taken to hospital. They are all currently in a critical condition.
