Around 90,000 Walloons recently received correspondence from SPF Finances in Dutch, RTBF reports.

Florence Angelici, spokesperson for SPF Finances, acknowledged the government's faux-pas. "It was a computer error. We adapted a program and it affected the language of the letter. Those concerned will receive a letter in French in the coming days," she said.

The letters were regarding advance payment of taxes for self-employed persons. Reprinting the letter, the recipients argue, means that they must wait even longer for important information.

One local resident expressed their annoyance at receiving the letter in Dutch. "Freelancers already have so much administrative work, and having to then translate from Dutch becomes really time-consuming. We can't get out of it," the resident complained.

New letters should be sent by the Federal Government soon.
