Over 140 kg of drugs were found during nine police searches carried out in the municipality of Saint-Gilles on Monday morning, with six suspects having been placed under arrest.
The Brussels-Midi police zone conducted the operation as part of an ongoing drug investigation around the Place Bethléem in lower Saint-Gilles.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the federal police and resulted in close to 150 kg of drugs being seized. In all, 24 kg of cannabis, 120 kg of cannabis resin, 270 grams of heroin and 15 grams of cocaine were found by police officers.
Police also found six firearms with ammunition, two tasers, a brass knuckle, two baseball bats, several knives as well as €90,000 in cash.
