The number of jobseekers in Brussels-Capital Region at the end of June was 3.2% higher than in June last year, according to Actiris.
By the end of last month, there were 87,218 jobseekers in the region, 2,743 more than in June 2022, and an unemployment rate of 15.2%, the regional employment agency reported on Wednesday. On the other hand, the number of compensated jobseekers fell by 4.2% on a year-on-year basis.
Compared to May 2023, the agency observed a slight increase of 1,106 (+1.3%) in the number of jobseekers last month.
There were also 8,505 young jobseekers in the capital in June 2023, 1,024 more than last year (+13.7%). Youth unemployment thus reached a rate of 22.0%.
On an annual basis, the number of jobseekers on benefits fell by 4.2%, while the number of young people on work integration courses rose by 21.0%.
Actiris also received 5,898 job offers in June 2023, 18.5% fewer than a year ago.
In the Brussels Region, the organisation counted 51,402 jobseekers claiming benefits, 5,213 young people on professional integration courses and 30,603 other registered jobseekers.
