Large numbers of police officers conducted raids in the Walloon region of Liège on Thursday morning as part of a planned anti-terrorist operation, Le Soir reports.
The searches are in conjunction with raids carried out in both the Netherlands and Germany. In Belgium, police officers raided three locations, two in Verviers and one in Liège. The searches have since concluded, but the Belgian police has yet to comment on whether they have led to arrests.
Searches in the Netherlands and Germany resulted in the arrests of nine terror suspects, Dutch and German prosecutors announced on Thursday, who are suspected of preparing terrorist attacks in Europe.
In Germany, five Tajik nationals, one Kyrgyz, and one person from Turkmenistan were arrested. The suspects allegedly "scouted targets for attacks in Germany, identified possible crime locations and tried to obtain weapons," a press release specified.

The men are believed to be "radical Islamist" followers and were in contact with the Islamic State in Khorasan (EI-K), a branch of IS active in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
In the Netherlands, a 29-year-old man from Tajikistan and a 31-year-old woman from Kyrgyzstan were arrested. These people are suspected of belonging to IS.
