The final day of the Les Ardentes festival was cancelled midday on Sunday, according to a press release from the Liège police, due to weather forecasts.
Forecasts predicted rain, hail and strong winds. On assessing the risk, a coordination committee met at the police centre in Liège and decided to cancel the final day of the event.
The committee advised festival-goers not to proceed to the Les Ardentes site, as it was not going to open its gates on that day.
Authorities urged campers to calmly vacate the camping site. Bus shuttles were arranged to transport them to the Guillemins train station.
A pick-up point was set up for those coming by car to collect festival-goers.
