A man working as a subcontractor for Belgian rail infrastructure company Infrabel died at Quévy station, in the Walloon province of Hainaut, on Monday.
The accident happened early in the morning while workers were pruning trees above train tracks.
According to Infrabel, the victim was working pruning a tree that had fallen onto overhead cables just a few kilometres from the French border. The worker accidentally touched the cable and was fatally electrocuted.
An investigation is underway to determine the precise circumstances of the accident, which cost the life of the worker.
