The arms and legs of a woman were discovered in a fridge floating on the Albert Canal near Hermalle-sous-Argenteau (Oupeye) on Tuesday, the Liège public prosecutor’s office said, confirming a report by Sudinfo on Wednesday morning.

The discovery was made by a passer-by who spotted the floating fridge. He brought it ashore and realised that a strong odour was emanating from it. The witness then contacted the police, who opened the fridge and discovered the four limbs of a woman.

A forensic pathologist, the laboratory and the victim identification service (DIV) attended the scene of the discovery on Tuesday.

According to initial findings, they are the arms and legs of the same person. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the Liège Federal Judicial Police (PJF).
