Based on new information, the Australian police have launched a new search operation with sniffer dogs for missing Belgian tourist Céline Cremer (31) on the island of Tasmania, at Philosopher Falls, near the town of Waratah, they announced.
Cremer was last seen on 17 June in the town of Waratah, about 10 kilometres from the hike to Philosopher Falls. Her car was recovered from a car park at the start of the hike. Several attempts were already made to find her, but on 10 July the police decided to suspend the search operations.
"Last week, police received additional information about Céline's phone activities," said police inspector Anthea Maingay. An analysis of that data yielded a new search area in the Philosopher Falls area.

Searches have already taken place in that area this week, but they yielded no trace of Cremer. The new search operation now will also include a New South Wales State Police search dog to possibly locate the tourist's body.
"The dog will be used to further search the area today. This will continue tomorrow," Maingay added.
