Environment Minister Alain Maron recently confirmed reports of illegal animal traps in the Brussels-Capital Region, according to Belga News Agency.

Some of the traps were fox traps. This comes after the Royal Belgian League for the Protection of Birds (LRBPO) was called to dismantle several illegal bird traps along the Brussels' canal back in June.

"We note that, although these phenomena are not numerous, they are nonetheless very present, and we must remain vigilant," the Minister told Belga.

Administrative fines for illegal poaching can be up to €62,000.

If you spot what you believe to be an illegal animal trap, alert Brussels Environment inspectors immediately.
