The Home Affairs Ministry temporarily activated the 1722 number again on Tuesday, as the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) is warning of bad weather.

From Tuesday afternoon to Thursday morning, the RMI announced a code yellow for rain in the province of Luxembourg. For thunderstorms as well, code yellow applies throughout the country from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.

The 1722 number is only for situations that are not life-threatening. By activating the number, the authorities aim not to overload the 112 emergency number (for life-threatening situations) to not keep people in danger waiting.

Anyone who needs assistance from the fire service for storm and/or flooding can submit an application via the e-counter www.1722.be or call the 1722. People are asked to preferably use the e-counter if possible.
