Composed of 74 delegations, this year’s Antwerp Pride Parade drew some 140,000 people, police and organisers said on Saturday afternoon. This is a record attendance figure for the Flemish metropolis’ Pride festival.

The Antwerp Pride Parade, the highlight of Pride Week, has grown in size over the years. In 2022, 65 delegations made the trip while 125,000 participants paraded through the streets of Antwerp.

A number of companies, including Proximus, De Lijn, Brussels Airlines and SD Worx, sent a delegation for the first time this year to support the message carried by Antwerp Pride. The Belgian army was also present in the procession for the first time. It marched alongside the police delegation.

Dozens of activities were organised throughout the city over the weekend to mark the event. In particular, an ecumenical prayer was held, at the initiative of the Pastorale des Jeunes de Flandre as well as LGBT+ people from different religious communities.

At the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) a 3D rainbow projection can be seen until Sunday.
