A fatal stabbing involving two teenagers occurred in Namur, Belgium last night, during the ongoing festival Fêtes de Wallonie.
The incident happened around 1 am near the Zara store in the city centre, in close proximity to the Four Corners. Amid the fight, a knife was brought out with deadly repercussions.
Police, who were patrolling the ongoing Festival, intervened promptly, and apprehended the main suspect, believed responsible for the fatal stabbing, according to DHnet.
The Mayor of Namur, Maxime Prévot, expressed grief over the tragedy, highlighting the victim's young age. He remarked that the calamity was unfortunate whether it happened during the Walloon Festival or not.
Mayor Prévot went on to classify the incident as isolated, noting that despite substantial security measures being in place for the Festival, it is impossible to cover all ground and prevent such terrible events entirely.
The Prosecutor's office in Namur has been updated about the incident. An official statement detailing the circumstances and future legal proceedings linked to the case is expected shortly.
