An A400M cargo plane belonging to the Belgian army took off from Larnaca in Cyprus this morning on route to Tel Aviv in Israel, according to data from flight tracker Flightradar24. The aircraft will evacuate Belgian nationals.

The aircraft took off from Belgium on Saturday morning to Cyprus. This morning, at 09:00 (Belgian time), the aircraft took off from the Cypriot airport, and should land in Israel just after 10:00 (Belgian time).

No information has been published about when the flight will leave Tel Aviv. As of 16:00 on Friday, FPS Foreign Affairs announced that there were fewer than 100 Belgians who said that they were stranded and wished to return back to Belgium. There are currently around 10,000 Belgians who have dual nationality in the country, as well as around 180 tourists.

On Friday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib said that a military evacuation would help protect the safety of Belgians and allow for a more efficient evacuation.
