Astronomy lovers will have a golden opportunity to witness falling stars in Belgium next week, according to online weather platform Meteovista.

Shooting stars are set to be plentiful as the Earth once again passes through the Leonids, although the cloudy skies over the coming nights may offer limited chances to see them.

This annual meteor shower, fed by the Tempel-Tuttle comet, will peak between Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November, although they may also be seen in the preceding and following days, Meteovista notes.

The platform predicts that the frequency could rise to between 20 to 30 shooting stars per hour. The showers will be fast, leaving bright, noticeable trails behind.

Meteovista suggests that the best viewing locations will be in areas with minimal light pollution at around 05:00.
