In the town of Hornu in the Walloon province of Hainaut, a 15-year-old boy was caught by the police last night while driving under the influence at 200 km/h. Alcohol checks were just underway in the village.
The police noticed the vehicle when it sped through the built-up area around 21:15. A 15-year-old boy – who obviously did not have a valid driver's license – was at the wheel, and appeared to be under the influence of cannabis.
The driver was accompanied by a peer of the same age. The 15-year-old boy will have to answer for the various traffic violations.
In total, the Boraine police zone checked 74 vehicles during the alcohol checks. Two people were caught with drugs. A weapon was also seized. The police issued a total of 27 fines. 13 drivers lost their driving licenses for 15 days.
