Passengers will soon be able to fly directly between Belgium and Cyprus, as Cyprus Airways will be connecting the coastal city of Larnaca and Brussels Airport from February next year.

Flights – which take about 3.5 hours – will initially only operate twice a week (on Mondays and Thursdays), before increasing to three times a week from summer 2024.

"We are thrilled to inaugurate our flights to Brussels," said Paul Sies, CEO at Cyprus Airways. "This marks a significant stride in enhancing connectivity between Cyprus and Europe, fostering not only business and governmental ties but also catering to the travel desires of those seeking the sun-kissed beauty of Cyprus."

Brussels Airport's CEO Arnaud Feist stressed that the new connection between Brussels and Larnaca will bring "both for governmental and business travel as well as sunseekers to the beautiful island of Cyprus."

The route will be operated with a "state-of-the-art" Airbus A220, which offers "an unparalleled experience" with Economy and Business Class amenities characterised by expansive windows, a serene cabin ambience and spacious seating with ample legroom.

Brussels Airport is seemingly trying to expand its international network, offering three flights a week to Amman (Jordan) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) as well. From next year, there will also be three direct flights to Singapore.
