A driver crashed into four cars in the city of Londerzeel, north of Brussels, on Saturday evening before fleeing the scene.
No injuries were reported according to Halle-Vilvoorde authorities and local media.
He had arrived at a BOB checkpoint in Londerzeel around 11.15 pm. Instead of slowing down and stopping for the check, the driver sped away, prompting a police chase.
Heading at high speed towards central Londerzeel, he ultimately collided with four other vehicles. The suspect left his car and remains at large, yet to be identified, the prosecutor’s office reports.
Inside the vehicle, a small quantity of drugs was found. “The amount suggests the drugs may have been for sale,” says Prosecutor Spokesperson Gilles Blondeau, further indicating that this could be the reason for his fleeing from the police. The case is now under further investigation.
