Approximately 27,000 people marched through the streets of Brussels on Sunday, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The demonstrators made a plea to the Belgian government, urging it to exert all its power to induce an immediate and enduring ceasefire.
The march expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and also called for a boycott of Israel.
The protest went off without incident, although Starbucks cafes and Zara clothing stores were booed by demonstrators.
A Zara window was also plastered with stickers and smeared with fake blood.
The high street retailer found itself in the middle of a controversy last week, following an advertising campaign whereby photos used were criticised for resembling images of victims in the Gaza Strip.
The current war broke out on 7 October, following a surprise terror attack by Hamas, which killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and saw over 200 Israelis kidnapped to Gaza. In Israel's retaliatory air strikes and ground invasion, 18,800 Palestinians have so far been killed, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.
