Bus service De Lijn has warned that Tuesday morning's services may be disrupted due to ongoing farmer protests.
The majority of disruptions are likely to cause potential delays and diversions on the peripheries of Brussels and on the express lines to Antwerp. Some lines have been closed altogether.
The protests, which kicked off in France, aim to highlight farmers' income difficulties under new EU agricultural regulations. Farmer blockades have closed off several motorway sections, and "almost the entire north and east [of Flanders] is experiencing very serious delays," the public transport company stated.
De Lijn has asked passengers across Flanders to anticipate possible delays or variations in bus and tram services, as the situation could quickly evolve.
