Belgium’s Council of Ministers has approved an extension to the “Working in Belgium” portal to accelerate the hiring of foreign workers.
The initiative is aimed at helping businesses struggling with labour shortages to find suitable candidates overseas.
Lengthy processing times risk frustrating potential candidates, and make them seek job opportunities elsewhere, potentially undermining the competitiveness of Belgian businesses.
The platform allows applicants to receive a ‘single permit’ permitting them to reside in Belgium for work for more than 90 days.
