The Federal Government has pledged €160 million to fund scientific research over the next eight years.
This monetary support will be distributed by external experts to two major research programs. The first initiative, known as ‘4Policy’, will receive funding to aid universities, higher education facilities, and research institutes.
In addition, the ‘4Science’ program will be instrumental in strengthening the 13 federal scientific institutions by collaborating with external research partners.
There’s a particular emphasis placed on research carried out on the oceanographic research vessel Belgica, as well as the Princess Elizabeth Antarctic research station.
The Belgian Government has allocated €12 million to ensure these Belgian facilities are utilised to their fullest potential.
