Brussels Airlines pilots are threatening to organise strikes "in blocks of four days once or twice a month" from 23 March, trade union CNE announced on Monday.
These four-day strikes, supported by the Christian and socialist unions, would be organised randomly once or twice a month, but passengers would be given a week's notice each time, CNE official Didier Lebbe told Belga News Agency.
This phase of pilot's continued mobilisation will begin on 23 March, but this does not necessarily mean there will be a strike on that day.
Impasse in talks
This latest round of mobilisation is part of pilots' continued frustration regarding working hours and pay conditions. Talks prompted by a three-day strike at the end of February failed to reach an agreement.
Cabin crew are prepared to join pilots in the repeated strikes if negotiations this week prove equally unsuccessful.
Management says Brussels Airlines' financial situation remains fragile. That being said, the operator, which is a daughter company of Lufthansa, reported its most profitable summer ever in 2023 following a dip in sales during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Brussels Airlines says it will not change its stance on negotiations despite the threat of strikes.
