The use of drones will be banned in the vicinity of the Studio 100 Pop-Up Theatre in Puurs-Sint-Amands municipality from 12:00 to 22:00 this Sunday.

This step has been taken due to the FTI Supernova technology event, which will be graced by the presence of former US President Barack Obama.

This temporary prohibition, according to Mayor Koen Van den Heuvel from Christian Democratic and Flemish party, was requested by security services to ensure airspace safety during the event. The drone-free zone extends for roughly 1.85km around the theatre.

Just like other dignitaries, Obama will be escorted to the building by police, which will be completely swept before his arrival.

"All the arrangements have been made and now we can only wait with bated breath," says the Mayor, who will be attending Obama’s talk this Sunday evening.

"An Evening With President Barack Obama" at the Studio 100 Pop-Up Theatre in Puurs (Province of Antwerp) is a prelude to the tech festival Supernova, taking place this week in Antwerp on 21-22 March.

The Hawaii-born leader "will give a talk on the challenges we face and his vision for the future". According to La Libre, Supernova Festival has paid between €400,000 to €600,000 to book the former US president.
