The scope for international travel from Brussels this summer just became bigger, as Belgium's biggest airport will be offering flights to nine new destinations.
Brussels Airport confirmed on Monday that flights to nine new destinations will be leaving its runways during the summer season, which starts on Sunday 31 March.
The company already announced the return of direct flights between Brussels and the Chinese city of Shanghai earlier this month, having been put on pause when the pandemic first hit. Now, other destinations have been added to its summer offering, including Singapore, Nairobi (Kenya), Bergen (Norway), Kraków (Poland), Bari (Italy), Bacău (Romania), Gazipaşa (Turkey), and Brive (France).
This brings the total number of direct connections from Brussels to 178 destinations, including 37 long-haul routes.
The flights to Nairobi and Kraków will be operated by Brussels Airlines. The company added that United Airlines is also launching a second daily flight to Newark, while Air Canada will again fly to Toronto four times a week.

Air Transat will also be operating a fourth weekly flight to Montreal. Finally, the offer to Morocco is being expanded by Air Arabia, which will now also serve Tétouan and Rabat. This brings the total number of Moroccan destinations that can be reached from Brussels to seven.
The airport is also welcoming six new airlines: Singapore Airlines (from 6 April), Juneyao Airlines (from July), and Cyprus Airways, Wideroe, Amelia and Wizz Air, bringing the total to 64 airlines operating at the airport.
