Audi Brussels, in response to difficult economic conditions, will cut production at its Forest site and eliminate 371 interim jobs from 8 April.
Difficult economic conditions and uncertainty over subsidies have been attributed to consumers’ reluctance to buy fully electric cars, revealed Peter D’hoore, a spokesperson for Audi Brussels. This trend affects the entire auto industry, not just the German car manufacturer, he added.
With its Forest site producing only fully electric cars, the company is directly affected and must therefore alter its production schedule accordingly.
Audi Brussels expressed its gratitude to its interim staff for their commitment and performance, adding it was a "very difficult" decision to make.
