Farmers are planning another protest, this time at the Tour of Flanders on Sunday.
It will take place primarily in Kluisbergen (East Flanders).
They aim to highlight the role of local food production and farmers in a positive manner, according to the Flemish agricultural organisation Boerenbond.
Farmers have previously staged protests during the “Ghent-Wevelgem” and “Dwars door Vlaanderen” cycling competitions.
Boerenbond and the Groene Kring, a youth farming organisation, look to highlight their demands once more during the Tour of Flanders.
Focusing attention on role of local farmers
Their campaign “Don’t sideline the farmer” aims to positively focus on the importance of local food production and the vital role farmers play.
The group calls for support for both cyclists and farmers alike, stating, “They are both Flanders residents worthy of our care,” says Boerenbond.

The protest will occur along the cycling tour’s route, particularly at Lamontstraat in Kluisbergen, as well as at Denstraat in Grembergen and Kammenkouterstraat in Aalst.
Groene Kring will participate with banners and tractors.
The agriculture organisations also plan to protest at the Grand Prix of Scheldt on 3 April and the Brabantse Pijl on 10 April.
