Over the weekend, police operations targeting drunk drivers in the City of Brussels and Ixelles municipalities led to 16 driving licences being revoked.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Brussels-Capital and Ixelles police zone carried out routine checks to combat driving under the influence in the capital.
The first operation took place overnight from Friday to Saturday on Allée Verte and Avenue Van Praet in Brussels.
According to the police, 15 motorists had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit in 578 inspections, with 12 reports of traffic violations.

The second check was conducted overnight from Saturday to Sunday on Place Poelaert and Boulevard Anvers in Brussels, as well as Bischoffsheim and Baudouin.
Of the 1,675 breathalysers administered, 78 motorists were found to be driving under the influence, with 26 facing a three-hour driving ban and 42 facing a six-hour driving ban.
As a result of these two operations, a total of 16 driving licences were revoked.
The police also conducted a road safety operation in Laeken on Sunday to raise awareness among cyclists, pedestrians, and scooter drivers.
Forty electric scooter riders were discovered to be in breach of traffic rules, with the most noteworthy being a scooter driver operating an unrestrained machine with a top speed of 90 km/h.
