Three minors suspected of committing a knife attack in a Brussels train have been placed in a youth detention centre, Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutors revealed, confirming media reports.
A fourth suspect, also a minor, has been conditionally released.
On 8 July, their alleged victim, a teenager, was stabbed on a train between Brussels-Central and Brussels-Midi stations at about 9:30 p.m. Four youths were subsequently arrested.
The seriously injured victim is no longer in a critical condition.
Two of the suspects were handed over to the public prosecutor’s office in Halle-Vilvoorde, which appointed a juvenile judge who decided to place them in a closed-regime juvenile detention centre.
The other two suspects were transferred to the public prosecutor’s office in Brussels, which also turned them over to a juvenile judge.
That judge decided to place one of the suspects in a closed-regime juvenile detention centre and to release the second one under conditions.
