A letter containing suspicious powder was delivered to the Prime Minister's office on Friday morning. The news was first reported by Bruzz and later confirmed by the Brussels Fire Brigade.
One individual who came into contact with the letter was taken to the hospital but has not shown any signs of contamination.
"We were called at around 10:45 about a letter with suspicious powder in the Rue de la Loi," said fire brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw.
"Our teams immediately responded, along with the Brussels police. Civil Protection was also called in. One person who came into contact with the envelope was decontaminated on-site and taken to the hospital as a precaution, but is currently doing well," he added.
The Civil Protection has taken the envelope for analysis. This is the third time this week that a letter containing suspicious powder has been found in Brussels.
On Wednesday morning, a similar incident occurred at the State Security office, and another suspicious envelope was discovered on Wednesday afternoon at the Ministry of Interior in the Rue de la Loi.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents. It remains unclear whether the three incidents are connected.
