A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of Diana in Schaerbeek on 3 December, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed.

The suspect has been charged and placed under electronic surveillance. Previously, the victim's ex-partner had been placed under arrest and investigated for manslaughter.

At around 20:40 on 3 December, police were called to the entrance hall of a building on Avenue du Diamant in Schaerbeek. Officers from the Brussels-North police zone found that a café owner called Diana had been stabbed. They provided initial medical assistance until emergency services arrived, but she succumbed to her injuries.

The Public Prosecutor's Office immediately opened an investigation. During that same night, two suspects were arrested, including Diana's ex-partner.

Searches were also carried out as part of the investigation. The examining magistrate decided to place the ex-partner under arrest for manslaughter, while the second individual arrested that night was acquitted.

Local media reported in the days following her death that the ex-partner had made her life extremely difficult in recent years. He had allegedly harassed her relentlessly after she took over management of the café after their separation.

One of the points of contention concerned a flat that the couple owned. The ex-partner allegedly offered the victim far too low a price for her share.

Some 100 people gathered at Place Chasseurs Ardennais in Schaerbeek several days after Diana's death to pay tribute to the woman during a silent march, led by those closest to Diana. She was one of the more than 20 women killed by a parter or ex-partner last year.
