Brussels Airport will offer 100 households from neighbouring municipalities the opportunity to subscribe to a year of green electricity, the airport announced on Monday.

With this pilot project, Brussels Airport aims to test this type of participatory project on a small scale.

Residents of Zaventem, Machelen, Steenokkerzeel, and Kortenberg can sign up this week via the energy platform Bolt to benefit from Brussels Airport Company’s green electricity for a year at a competitive price.

The offer will be complete once 100 households have registered.

Starting in February, the one hundred households will receive locally produced green electricity generated by the airport’s solar panels.

This project is part of Brussels Airport Company’s strategy to achieve Net Zero Carbon for its own activities by 2030.
