A famous Brussels nightclub owner, Carl De Moncharline, is due to appear before the Brussels Correctional Court on 20 May for the rape of three women, RTBF reported.

De Moncharline is a well-known figure on the Brussels nightlife scene. He was the owner of the renowned nightclub The Wood in Bois de la Cambre. In March 2022, RTBF's Investigations programme exposed the famous club owner. Several victims came forward and provided testimonies of his abuse during his time as the head of The Wood.

He reportedly offered the victims free drinks containing drugs and then sexually abused them at his club. The news came just one month after Brussels increased efforts to combat sexual harassment following the wave of testimonies from women who experienced sexual violence on a night out.

Following the reports of De Moncharline drugging and raping several minors, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the claims made by victims and witnesses. It then dismissed the case, and there was no more news for three years.

However, it has now been confirmed that De Moncharline, widely known in the capital as the "King" of Brussels nightlife, will face the correctional court. According to RTBF, new information was brought to the attention of the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the investigation has been reopened.

He is accused of raping and sexually abusing three women who were minors at the time. Other cases are time-barred but will be added to the trial because of their possible similarity to the three cases.
