A 61-year-old woman was killed on 17 March during a burglary at her apartment in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, the Brussels public prosecutor confirmed on Saturday.
According to Sudinfo and Het Nieuwsblad, the victim was the wife of the CEO of Goodyear Europe.
The two media outlets reported that the woman arrived at her apartment on 17 March around 20:00 and came face-to-face with a masked intruder.
The man threatened her to enter the apartment before stabbing her and fleeing with luxury watches, worth several tens of thousands of euros, and jewellery. Her husband found her body upon his return and immediately called emergency services, who could only confirm her death.
“The public prosecutor has appointed an investigating judge for the case of homicide,” the Brussels public prosecutor’s office stated. “In the interest of the investigation and out of respect for the victim’s family, no further comments will be made.”
