The STIB network will have a new bus line from Monday 7 March, the Brussels public transport company announced on Tuesday.
Line 73 will be 6.3 km long and will have ten stops, linking the Gare du Midi to Ceria, south-west Brussels. STIB hopes this move will strengthen the public transport service on the Boulevard Industriel. The development will also be accompanied by a merger of lines 75 and 98.
"This new line reinforces the public transport offer in the vicinity of the Boulevard Industriel, from the Gare du Midi to the Ceria. It will serve the numerous needs and developments in the area: housing, offices, businesses, shops and cinema by increasing capacity on public transport," explained the operator.

The new line offers numerous multimodal connections. From Gare du Midi, passengers can access metro lines 2 and 6, tram lines 3 and 4 and SNCB trains. At Ceria, they are connected to metro line 5 and multiple De Lijn bus lines, as well as a park and ride car park.
Line 73 is the sixth new line in the bus network, created as part of the implementation of STIB's new bus plan. Under the new plan, the company hopes to increase mobility and improve service quality. Bus frequencies will also increase, cutting waiting time and preventing overcrowding. Better services in the north and east of the city are also expected, with new trams being added.
