Traffic is disrupted on Monday morning following an accident on the Brussels inner ring at Wemmel, while a major traffic disruption on the E313 towards Antwerp also halted traffic.
Only one lane is open in Wemmel and motorists were already facing up to an hour of delays from Grand-Bigard at 06:00, the Flemish traffic centre said.
The accident involved a large lorry and there is one fatality, De Morgen reported. As it will take some time to get the lorry back on track, the Flemish traffic centre advises motorists to avoid the area.
Traffic also came to a standstill at the end of the #E40 from Ghent.
