Tram line 7 currently runs between Vanderkindere, Uccle and Heysel, Laeken, but the line will be extended to Albert, at the edge of Parc Forest.
The idea has been on the table for a while, as Uccle’s municipal council had approved another motion for it. However, the proposal was impossible at the time due to a lack of tram tracks, technical problems and a lack of space.
But the municipality asked Brussels transport operator MIVB/STIB to reconsider the technical problems, said Mobility Minister Elke Van den Brandt’s spokesperson. “STIB has been able to solve those problems so that a third track can still be created.”

Tram line 7 will therefore also serve the Berkendael and Albert stops. “In the future, trams 4, 7 and 51 will run in Albert pre-metro station on level -1. Metro 3 will be on level -2,” says Desmet. The aim is to complete the work on the Albert Station by 2026.
Tram users will no longer have to walk to two stops to change at Albert, which is “good for passenger comfort and accessibility”, Desmet said.
It also eases the connection with metro 3 and give Forest residents great accessibility to the VUB and ULB campuses.
