The City of Brussels is launching a new summer festival in a month's time called In The Streets. From 14 July, the month-long festival will offer free cultural, artistic and sports events across the city's streets.
In The Streets expands over a seven-kilometre trail throughout town, with street art, comic strip wall walks and panoramic views. Music festival Vibe is in charge of providing exciting background music, while two sports villages will be set up at both ends of the route, Bruzz reports.
Sports villages
The two sports villages will be Play Down on Place de Brouckère and Play Up on Place Poelaert, turning the stunning squares into exciting playgrounds for all.
While Place de Brouckère has an ice rink in winter, it will now be turned into a 500 m2 roller skate rink. There will also be a pump track where experts in rollerblading, skateboarding or BMX give demonstrations every weekend.
On 30 and 31 July, a 3vs3 basketball tournament will be played at the sports villages.

The Play Up village on Place Poelaert will have three climbing walls, XXL obstacles to play with and jump over, as well as a summer bar to enjoy a cold drink after the activities.
Music
During the month of In The Streets, from 14 July to 14 August, 130 convivial concerts will be taking place thanks to the street music festival Vibe, at several locations including the Mont des Arts and Rue Horta.
Music will be central to the festival on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
