Students from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and, for the first time this year, Haute École Francisco Ferrer are receiving their diplomas on the Grand-Place from 10 to 16 October.

During the week, thousands of students will parade on the balcony of Brussels City Hall.

Graduates of the Faculty of Sciences and Bioengineering Sciences kicked off Graduation Week on Monday at 10:00 am. One by one, the graduants showed up on the balcony and thanked their loved ones on the microphone. They were also congratulated by Brussels Mayor Philippe Close.

"The VUB is an urban engaged university, and we are therefore very happy to be able to announce our graduants again on the Grand-Place in Brussels," VUB Rector Jan Danckaert said. "Graduation is the culmination of a period of personal growth and intellectual development, and that deserves hearty applause."

The graduation ceremonies on the Grand-Place will continue throughout the week. VUB students will receive their diplomas until Wednesday, after which it will be the turn of the new graduates of from the ULB and the Haute École Francisco Ferrer.
