United Music of Brussels has returned to the Belgian capital: it kicks off on Thursday 24 November and will continue through to Saturday the 26th.
Organisers of the event – La Monnaie, the Belgian National Orchestra and Bozar – have mapped out different routes that will allow music to resonate in atypical Brussels locations over the next three days.
The opening concert - Quattuor de la Renaissance - is on Thursday 24 November at 7.30 p.m. It will allow four acapella singers to discover the acoustics of the Sablon church. The evening will then continue in various adjacent galleries.
On Friday 25 November, the programme will focus on three venues: the Grand Foyer of La Monnaie, the Rotunda of the Galerie Ravenstein and Bozar’s Henry Le Boeuf room.
In the evening, the Belgian National Orchestra, led by conductor Antony Hermus, will perform the world premiere of the First Symphony (Ombres Célestes) by Brussels composer Jean-Luc Fafchamps.
Saturday, the last day of the musical triptych, will be very busy, with mini concerts taking place in 10 locations from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
On the musical route of Les Halles Saint-Géry, the Cinéma Galeries and the Central Station, visitors will be able to discover the sounds of an electro-acoustic clarinet, a marathon of pianists, Argentinean tango concerts and an ‘interstellar horn solo’.
