Following a call for local projects to decarbonise Brussels, the regional government has announced 40 proposals that will receive regional support to deliver on their initiatives.
After Brussels Environment launched the first 'Climate Action' project call in 2020, almost all communes and their local Public Centres for Social Welfare (CPAS) joined and received regional support for their climate policies. In three years, some 100 local projects received funding amounting to over €10 million.
This includes €4.7 million in 2022, with 44 local projects getting regional support to build the "low-carbon Brussels of tomorrow."
"In the face of climate change, we must join forces to provide a response that matches the challenges," Alain Maron, Minister for Climate Transition, stated. "The actions of the municipalities complement and reinforce the Region's climate action."
